Birgit is also affiliated with the Sandler Sales Institute in the Tampa Bay area, where she trains and coaches members of the Entrepreneurs’ Club to use “power tools” that work in today’s economy.  

She previously spent thirteen years in the international satellite and aerospace industry, where she served in a variety of capacities.

Tom Hanson, Ph.D.

Professional coach Tom Hanson, Ph.D., guides performers to breakthroughs in performance, learning and enjoyment. As CEO of Heads-Up Performance, Inc., he helps individuals and teams focus on the “M.I.T.” – the Most Important Things.   

Hanson has extensive experience coaching in both sport and business.  He was the full-time director of Performance Enhancement with the New York Yankees in 2001, and has also consulted with the Texas Rangers, Anaheim Angels and Minnesota Twins in professional baseball. Hanson helps develop mental skills in athletes and teams from a variety of other sports including golf, tennis, swimming, soccer and track and field.

In the business world, Hanson serves as an executive coach, speaker and trainer, facilitating individual and team performance.

Past clients include Fannie Mae, Kaiser Permanente, Microsoft, The Corporate Finance Institute, and numerous insurance and financial services companies. His programs are fun, highly interactive, and practical.

Hanson has a doctorate in education specializing in sport psychology from the University of Virginia, where he began his career-long study of extraordinary performance. Formerly a tenured professor at Skidmore College (NY), Hanson co-authored the book “Heads-up Baseball: Playing the Game One Pitch at a Time,” which has sold more than 65,000 copies worldwide.

Susan S. Freeman is a Principal with Heads-up Performance, a nationally recognized boutique specializing in executive leadership and transformational change.  She combines expertise in marketing, strategy, and organizational development in both the corporate and non-profit sectors.  

 

She brings an in-depth understanding of critical issues for individual and team success to each project and is passionate about delivering the highest levels of excellence to clients and candidates. Her instincts, judgment, and integrity have earned her credibility and trust from clients in all sectors.
 
Previously Ms. Freeman was a Vice-President with Meridian Partners, a retained executive search firm and founded a consulting firm that helped companies prosper through strategic and organizational development. She also built and managed the Tampa Bay Business Committee for the Arts, a successful non-profit organization now in its 20th year.

Ms. Freeman has been active in numerous community organizations and Boards and is a member of the Athena Society and an alumna of Leadership Tampa.
 
Ms. Freeman holds an M.B.A. in Marketing from Columbia University and a B.A. in Psychology from Wellesley College. She received her coach training from the Newfield Certified Coaching Program in Boulder, CO.    She lives in Tampa with her husband Tom, and three sons.
